What is PSI?

The McGill PSI Undergraduate Psychology Research Journal was started by the executives of the McGill Psychology Students Association(MPSA) in 2011. The purpose of our departmental journal is to showcase the insightful research work that our undergraduates have completed either independently or through a supervised project. Submissions are peer-reviewed by undergraduate students with backgrounds in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science and other related fields.

How often is PSI published?

Issues are published at the end of every winter semester (usually end of March).

Content

There are no strict limitations to which topics are covered. Past issues have included articles that range from subjects in law, anthropology, sociology, cognitive science and neuroscience. However, to adhere to the nature of our journal and distinguish it from other departmental journals, submissions are chosen for their relevance in psychology in some form or other.

Initiatives

Once the journal has been published, they are distributed free of charge to the McGill community. In order to fund the journal, bake sales and samosa sales are organized by the team. Throughout the years, we have also received funding from the AUS committee. Every year, a call out for editors and article submissions are distributed via departmental and faculty Listservs. After the submission deadline, undergraduate students on the editorial team select and review the articles for publication based on content, interest, and overall quality of writing. The editorial process respects the double-blind policy in order to ensure that selections are performed anonymously, without any bias.
